Nicole Kidman receives one compliment so often that she's grown to dislike it.
The Practical Magic actress recently spoke to Time Magazine about the flattering remark that puts her under a lot of pressure, revealing that she "hates it."
"People go, 'You're a superwoman.' I hate it." Kidman is a known advocate for female representation in film, and in 2017, she vowed to "work with a woman director every 18 months," per Page Six. The actress has since smashed that goal and continues to highlight a biased "demand for perfectionism" among female directors, producers, and actresses in Hollywood.
"It can be changed. But, it can only be changed by actually being in the films of women." The star's latest film, Babygirl, was directed by Halina Reijn, a female director Kidman instantly connected with. Page Six mentioned that the actress has previously expressed a desire to portray someone not so put together, and that's exactly what she got with her character, Romy, in the 2024 thriller.
"I am so open to starting something completely a mess and shattered. Where is it? Give me the material."
Kidman also acknowledged her open and giving approach to relationships during her interview with Time, referring to the trait as both a blessing and a curse.
"It’s how I approach all of my relationships. I’ve been hurt because of that, but I’m still not jaded. I’m delicate, but I’m very giving. The emotions I offer are very, very real, so I need to know that if I’m giving that to you, you value it."
