Portillos Wins Best 'Fast Casual' Dining In Nation

If you ask any Chicagoan what you have to try when visiting Chicago, 9 times out of 10 they're going to tell you either Lou Malnati's or Giordano's (cover your deep dish bases) and Portillos.

Thanks to TripAdvisor, Chicagoans no longer need to convince the outside world that Portillos is actually the best because the Chicago staple was just named, "The best 'fast casual' restaurant in the nation'.

The Chicago-style restaurant chain specializes in Midwest staples like hot dogs, Italian beef, and  Maxwell Street Polish. Oh, and while you're there you HAVE to try the chocolate cake shake. It will actually change your life.

According to TripAdvisor, the company determined its "Travelers' Choice" rankings by analyzing the quantity and quality of reviews for each establishment over a 12-month period.

Portillo's wasn't the only Chicago-based restaurant to receive an honor from the travel and restaurant website company.

Alinea, a fine-dining restaurant that has made multiple appearances on the "Best Fine Dining" list grabbed a spot in the Top 20.

The Purple Pig took 15th in the "everyday dining" category.

And Bavette's Bar and Boeuf also got a nod in the fine dining category.
