What a bunch of crap … Is your car a bird poop magnet? According to a new survey, brown cars are the most likely to get bombarded by bird droppings – followed by red and black vehicles. If you drive a white or silver car, you’re in luck – those colors seem to attract fewer feathered “gifts.” Certain car brands also seem to be bird favorites. Dodge Ram trucks top the list, followed by Jeep and Chevy.
The cost of cleaning up after birds isn’t cheap, wither – nearly 25% of drivers spend over $500 annually on car washes or paint repairs because of bird poop, with Tesla and BMW owners facing the steepest bills. Scientists suggest birds may be drawn to certain colors due to their ultraviolet vision, and shiny surfaces like mirrors and hoods can trigger territorial behavior, especially during mating season. To avoid becoming a bird’s favorite target, experts recommend parking in a garage, using a car cover, or opting for lighter-colored vehicles.
