It pays to be a mascot ... College mascots show up at all kinds of games, but they also show up at various special events around the country. Now FOIAball.com (that's Freedom of Information Act) has published a study of just how much extra money these mascots make at events. Ohio State's Brutus the Buckeye tops the list with 518 appearances last year, bringing in over $130,000. Minnesota's Goldie the Gopher made 264 appearances — which includes 16 weddings — to rake in just under $120,000. Third on the list is Michigan State's Sparty, who brought in just under $100,000 for 22 appearances, including 18 weddings.
